New Zealand has officially welcomed 2025 by being one of the first countries to experience midnight. Following New Zealand, Australia is now gearing up to usher in the new year.

Following its Oceanic neighbour, Australia has also brought in the new year 2025. With bright lights and fireworks in the sky, millions of Australians gathered in Sydney to celebrate the start of a new year.

The transition to 2025 unfolds in a spectacular wave of celebrations due to the different time zones across the world.

For the new year, Christmas Island (Kiritimati) in the Republic of Kiribati were the first to mark the new year, followed by the Chatam Islands in New Zealand.

Next on the map is Australia, as thousands of tourists gather near the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge for NYE celebrations.

As the Earth continues to rotate, countries such as Myanmar, India, Iran, Turkey, the United Kingdom and more mark the new year.

The final places to celebrate the start of the new year are the uninhabited islands of Baker and Howlandluck9, southwest of Hawaii.
